WASHINGTON, D.C. – Slush fund: When you hear the word, a 7-Eleven probably comes to mind before anything related to politics. But slush funds, defined by Merriam Webster’s as “an unregulated fund often used for illicit purposes” have a long and kooky history in our nation’s capital .

Here we break down slush funds and how it got from a term used on sea-faring ships to the halls of Congress.
